Super Visa for Parents and Grandparents
- What is Super Visa?
Super Visa is a temporary resident permit that allows parents and grandparents to stay in Canada for up to 2 years per visit. Super Visa can also be used as a long term multiple entry Visa.
- Why Super Visa?

- It allows applicants to stay in Canada for an extended period (maximum of 2 years)
- It is meant for Parents or Grandparents of Canadian Citizens
- Another advantage of Super Visa is its relatively short processing time (approx. 8-weeks)
Applicant Eligibility:
The application for Super Visa is made to a visa office outside of Canada. Applicants for a Parents and Grandparents Super Visa must meet certain criteria.
- Applicants must be eligible for a regular visitor visa ( Applicant with the criminal and medical ground is not eligible for a regular visitor visa)
- Applicants must have a relationship proof to show that they are the parent or grandparent of a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
- Applicants must have one-year valid medical insurance from a Canadian insurance company
Note: Medical insurance is necessary to provide minimum coverage of $100,000 for health care, hospitalization and repatriation.
- Applicants must undergo a medical examination before applying.
Applicant family member in Canada Eligibility
- Applicant’s family members need to demonstrate that they are a Canadian citizen or permanent resident;
- They need to provide the applicant with a letter of invitation.
- They need to demonstrate that their income is above a predetermined minimum level.
