Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) (the department of the government of Canada) made some changes to the International Student Program. As per the new rules, the students can work up to 20 hours a week without the need for a work permit. With the help of this rule, the students get the opportunity to learn more about Canada and its culture. This rule also allows students to work on-campus or off-campus.
Applicants need to meet the following requirements to obtain a student visa.
- Applicants need to be successfully accepted at a Designated Learning Institution (DLI) in Canada
- Applicants must have proof of financial support for his/her education
- Applicants must be able to obtain a police clearance certificate if required
- Applicants need to be physically fit (and must have a medical proof)
- Applicants need to be proficient in English with a proof in the form of English proficiency test (IELTS, TOEFL etc.)
The student receives a Graduate Work Permit for a minimum of one to a maximum of three years after successfully graduating from the program of study.
