Work Permit
The caregiver program allows temporary residents (with a caregiver work permit) and caregivers (with approved work permit) to become a permanent resident of Canada based on an employer’s positive Labor Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) application.
Following are the requirements for the caregiver program:
- Candidate must be able to obtain a positive Labor Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) from a Canadian employer
- Candidate must have a written employment contract describing job duties, hours of work, wages, accommodation arrangements and medical insurance coverage
- Candidate must have a Canadian diploma or degree or equivalent foreign studies
- Candidate must have a minimum of six months training or one year of full-time work experience as a caregiver
- Candidate must pass a language proficiency test in English or French
- Candidate must have a work permit before visiting Canada
